current event #4
I think knowing how to speak more than one language fluently is great and very helpful this day in time. To learn a language that is not natural to you takes more brain power and makes you use more of your mind the common person would use making you smarter than them. In today's society, there are many foreign languages spoken in the United States from all over the would and the more you know can really help you anywhere you go. I find it that people from other countries think its funny to talk junk about Americans in their language. But if you know their language and can tell what their are saying, then its not so funny and you have out smarted them. I think the biggest reason i want to know how to speak Spanish is so I can talk to Spanish speakers and i know when they are talking junk about me, even if they don't!

Current event #2
In Chile, student used desks and chairs to block the streets from police to a prestiges high school in chile's capital Friday. Students have been protesting by sit-in's, marches and strikes because of poor access to public education and privatization in education systems. Mayor of Providencia Cristian Labbe ordered police to remove protesting students from the Santiago municipality but back fired and caused an enlargement in distruction in the city's capital. Students say they will not back down until education is improved. Schools are now back in session with an increase in police presence with is causing an uproar. So far conditions have not improved since Labbe tried to shorten the school year for protesting students but he does not have the ability to alter the already poor conditions of the education systems.

In Clili, Fourteen out of the 23 Chilean coal miners that were trapped for up to 3 months under ground were awarded lifetime pensions. This is a monthly settlement given to the miners for risking their lives for the coal mines and is worth 540 American dollars. To help the jobless miners move forward from this tragic accident, the mining company has set the survivors up with good paying jobs that is less dangerous. Recovery hasn't been easy for the miners for most of them are on lots of medications but with new jobs and more monthly income, the path to recovery gets brighter every day
